We are recruiting in our Engineering department for a Maintenance Engineer to maintain effectively the equipment and control systems, servicing and repairing within the factory in a manner that upholds the quality of the operation, focussing on safety, output, product quality, cost effectiveness and the preservation and improvement of the company's machinery.
We are looking for individuals to ensure root cause analysis and problem solving techniques are carried out to maximise the efficiency and safety of plant and machinery, with the focus on enabling Production to meet their targets on time, on cost and to set quality standards, but with safety always being paramount.
The successful candidate will be able to provide expertise in Electrical, Mechanical and Pneumatic control systems ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.
The post holder will be able to work with production colleagues in a Continuous Improvement environment to improve equipment OEE's

Your challenge

In this role the key responsibilities will include:

* Be proactive and responsive to breakdowns in the plant and with the equipment in a safe manner that meets the day-to-day needs of the production department.
* Build strong awareness of departmental needs thereby maximising production output and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation.
* Prioritise, through consultation with Production Shift Manager and Maintenance Manager, the order of own workload, taking into account factory needs.
* Communicate effectively with Production Team Leaders, Operators and all engineering staff.
* Contribute to the upkeep of all relevant technical documentation.
* Ensure both group and individual objectives are positively progressed in line with the Muller Maintenance Strategy, and positively contribute to site initiatives as requested.
* Work with the factory planned maintenance system to both develop and complete planned maintenance routines whilst constantly monitoring the effectiveness of the system.
* Raise purchase order requisitions for spare parts as required, and liaise with the Engineering Services Support Controller to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained and complying with budgetary constraints and administrative systems.

Key skills & experience

* Educated in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering to City and Guilds or NVQ level 3.
* Completion of an apprenticeship.
* PLC programming knowledge in Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley would be advantageous.
* Food Hygiene/Health & Safety Certificate desirable.
* Completion of a multi skilled training program.
* Proven ability to actively apply skills in a safe and effective manner.
* Ability to develop, an excellent technical knowledge of the plant.
* Relevant food/liquid manufacturing/filling experience essential.
* A logical fault finding approach to breakdowns and problem solving.
* Effective communication skills.
* Flexible approach.
* Ability to work under pressure.
