First Personnel are working exclusively with this client who are now looking to recruit an HR Manager/PA to join their established and successful business. The organisation was founded in 1974 and is known within the UK manufacturing industry as a major supplier of high quality specialist equipment. This role is pivotal to the business which will cover both HR as well as PA duties to the directors of the organisation, as such it is a very varied role being able to prioritise essential tasks and having strength of character to see them through. This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to really make an impact and become an asset to the business.

[ The role ]

- To be responsible for all HR duties/requirements and to assist the MD\Directors in overseeing all HR matters
- Process offer letters and contract of employment, liaise with company solicitor and HR consultants when required.
- To effectively set up, control and maintain individual personnel files
- To build an excellent working relationship with all staff securing their trust and respect
- To process monthly payroll and ensure that it is paid on time with the assistance of the Financial Controller, also answer any payroll queries that staff may have
- Process and answer queries relating to P11D information and submit to HMRC
- Monitor all employee absence from sickness to holidays
- To make sure that the company staff handbook and contracts of employment are kept up to date
- To control, maintain and improve the cost effectiveness where possible of the private health scheme
- Provide confidential secretarial support and PA services in an efficient and professional manner to allow both the MD and Directors to operative effectively
- Manage MD and Directors diary making sure that the MD is always aware of visitors to the company and other external events that may be required to attend
- To keep the MD informed of important and unforeseen circumstances whilst out of the business
- To assist with company secretarial requirements of the Financial Director including the preparation and distribution of board papers
- To open and distribute daily post ensuring strict confidentiality where required
- To control, maintain and improve the cost effectiveness where possible of mobile telephone arrangements, company car policy, travel arrangement procedures, company credit card and key holder alarm systems
- To assist in facility issues including insurance renewals and claims as well as being involved in H&S meetings

[ Person and skills required ]

- Previous experience with HR and a varied PA role is essential
- Previous payroll experience essential
- The ability to prioritise workload is vital
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with employees
- A good sense of humour
- Ideally a HR qualification or working towards
- Calm under pressure
- Confidential approachable presence to build a bond with staff
