REED Human Resources is currently recruiting a HR Manager for a family run commercial retail business in Birmingham.

Reporting into the Director, this standalone generalist role will focus on the development and implementation of policies, ensuring compliance with employment law. A key element of the role is to support and advice to managers regarding the full range of potential ER issues. Supporting the business culture, values and vision during a period of growth is essential as well as the strategy and planning activities that come with this.

The successful candidate will have the following key accountabilities:
• Overall accountability of the HR function
• Liaising with a wide range of people to formulate personnel systems and strategies in line with the company’s mission and vision.
• Recruiting staff - this includes developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates.
• Advising on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits.
• Undertaking regular salary reviews.
• Negotiating with staff on issues relating to pay and conditions.
• Interpreting and advising on employment law in partnership with Peninsula Advisors.
• Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures.
• Developing with line managers HR planning strategies which consider immediate and long-term staff requirements.
• Planning, and sometimes delivering, training - including inductions for new staff.

• Minimum CIPD Level 5.
• Five year’s HR Manager experience
• Professional, fair and willing to make a difference.
• Excellent verbal and written English
