Alex Tosney is recruiting for a Chemical Engineer to join a chemicals manufacturer on their top tier COMAH manufacturing plant near Stoke on Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for a Chemical Engineer to join a company who strive to develop their staff from within on a permanent basis.

The salary on offer for this position is between £20,000pa and £26,000pa depending on experience.

The primary function of the Chemical Engineer position will be to complete a variety of Chemical Engineering related tasks, including the weekly site checks, simple routine maintenance procedures and training in order to take on new responsibilities and roles within the company.

Further responsibilities will include:
- Produce technical diagrams such as P&ID drawings and flow system diagrams.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports
- Contribute a Site development plan and maintenance program to support manufacturing operations and business functions.
- Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Complete routine activities such as site checks & simple maintenance procedures, of which the list is to increase with respect to experience and training.
- Assist in identifying and then develop and implement engineering and technical solutions, arising from:
-HAZOP studies
-LOPA studies
-Continuous Improvements
-Regulatory Compliance

- Assist in process development and the delivery of proposals in design, equipment selection and procurement, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
- Ensure all work done is compliant to the relevant legal and regulatory level.
The Chemical Engineer should have the following skills and experience:
- Chemical Engineer or equivalent qualification.
- Recent graduate or up to 5 years' experience in a similar role in a chemical production environment.
- Knowledge of HAZOP studies
- Familiar with and able to produce P&ID drawings
- Strong focus on Health, Safety, Environment and Compliance.
- Familiar with energy saving initiatives and sustainability concepts.
- Good understanding of current GMP.
- Experience of ideally, COMAH top tier, site operation and reporting requirements.
