Assistant Project Manager
Excellent salary & benefits package

My client is a world leading engineering organisation with an enviable track record producing engineering answers to complex engineering questions. Key industries that they work with include Power Generation, Aerospace, Nuclear and Marine but they also work in some very niche markets, due to their product being transferable to a number of applications.

Due to a superb forward order book and more to come, they’re looking to increase their existing Project team in order to continue to provide an excellent service to all of their customers.

As an Assistant Project Manager you will:

• Work closely with an experienced Project Manager on high risk & high value projects
• Use your Project Management skills to ensure projects are completed to the correct specification, delivery schedule and budget
• Help with the performance of each project to ensure that budgets, quality and delivery are met (preferably exceeded)
• Manage the documentation for each project, ensuring that there is an audit trail for both the business and the customer
• Develop the project plans to make sure that these are in line with expectations (budget, delivery, quality etc.)
• Liaising with internal teams and external customers (including their representatives) to cascade any changes or areas of deviation from the plan, in order to get these back on track
• Carry some responsibility for the financial aspects of each project as each defined goal is met
• Be aware of any project risks and ensuring that corrective action is taken to reduce or negate these
• Managing any change of scope alterations and recording for future reference

In order to be considered for this Assistant Project Manager role it is expected that you will have:

• A relevant educational background, with either an HNC, HND or BSc within a mechanical or electrical discipline. Those with significant real world experience but not the qualifications will still be considered, so long as they have relevant engineering experience
• Excellent interpersonal; skills and the ability to work with multi-disciplined engineering colleagues and customers
• Strong team ethic and the proven ability to contribute to the team’s goals
• Real world experience within a similar position and within the mechanical or electrical engineering industry
• A sound understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental systems, as well as Quality systems
• Good knowledge of project planning systems and software

Due to the scope of the role, the package on offer will be based on the skills you can bring to the party and your overall experience. This will include:
• A good basic salary
• Good workplace Pension (the employer will pay more in than you pay in)
• At least 32 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays)
• Fantastic career development and training to move you to the next level
• More benefits based on your own needs

If you'd like to discuss this position before applying please call John Ryan on 0115 9888792

I will contact those that are most suited for the role, within 3 days of receipt.
