ASD Teacher - Primary or Secondary Trained - Hanley - Staffordshire

My client is a new special school located in the heart of Stoke, offering flexible day and residential placements for students aged 6 to 19 years with complex communication and social difficulties.

Students may be on the autistic spectrum, have Asperger's Syndrome or other difficulties that impact their emotional health and wellbeing and create barriers to learning. Their vision is quite simple – they believe in empowering uniqueness. They want every child and young person in our service to develop and achieve their full potential; educationally, socially and personally.

The role would be a permanent position starting in September you would be teaching either in primary or secondary.

Job responsibilities include:


• Developing programmes of learning activities
• Planning, preparing and researching lessons
• Preparing and adapting teaching materials
• Making use of special facilities and/or equipment
• Contact and teaching time with students on an individual, class or small group basis
• Checking and assessing students' work and giving feedback
• Encouraging personal development via tutorial and pastoral work
• Attending meetings and reviews
• Liaising with parents, professionals and external agencies
• Writing reports
• Coordinating the work of support staff

You must have the following to apply for the position

• PGCE in Primary or Secondary with QTS
• Experience of working with SEN students either in a SEN school or mainstream school.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
