A Network Manager is required for one of the world's leading ticket specialists. My client supplies products to instantly recognisable brands both in the UK and worldwide.

My client holds an extensive range of awards and due to the continued growth they are currently undergoing a major transformation project with the re-platforming of their core system with changes to their hosting and development techniques.

They are looking for a talented Network Manager to manage their internal and external networks, establish core processes and policies for security and establish their DevOps processes for the future.

You will be expected to delegate responsibilities for day to day operation and desktop support to the junior network support engineers – ensuring they have the right level of support and training to carry out their responsibilities.

Network Manager Responsibilities

• You will be key member of the senior IT management team and IT security management group.

• Managing and designing their internal network and their external hosting/cloud platforms.

• Establishing CI strategy/platforms and DevOps strategy working closely with the Director of IT and the senior management team.

• You will be responsible for creating/maintaining and ensuring the smooth operation of all security and user policies

• Review and update their internal infrastructure, establish and maintain core processes and policies regarding security and user management and establish their DevOps strategy going for the future.

• You will be fully responsible for their internal and external networks including the following:

o Ensuring DR strategy is fully operational.

o Ensuring backup strategy is in place.

o Ensure core servers (Windows/Linux) are fully operational.

o Ensure AD is working correctly.

o Ensure they are fully patched and Anti Virus is applied to the network.

o Full desktop/application support including Mac/PC estate.

o Ensure internal wireless network is fully operational.

o Ensure leased lines/backup lines are fully functional.

o Ensure that all peripherals on the network including printers/faxes are fully operational.

o Ensuring all fileservers are operational.

o Ensure email/unified messaging platforms are fully operational.

o Establishing standardised images of their core desktop platforms are maintained and managed.

• Managing telecoms infrastructure working closely with our key suppliers.

• Line manager responsibility for the junior network support engineers.

• Working closely with the senior management team (including developers) introduce key CI based technologies and DevOps technologies to ensure efficient deployment and development.

• Be the evangelist on CI and DevOps and that the solutions we design/build are not only major steps forward but will ensure the organisation has the framework, visions and most importantly scalability to be best in breed within their sector.

• You must develop strong and effective working relationships with other teams and suppliers.

• You will ensure consistent processes are operated and improved on with your input and wisdom.

• You will be dynamic in style, pragmatic in results.

Skills of the Network Manager:

• Excellent experience of Windows Server 2008/2012.

• Excellent experience of Linux based platforms (primarily Debian/Redhat).

• Understanding of SANS (preferably around Solaris/OpenSolaris).

• Excellent understanding of Group Policy/AD.

• Excellent understanding/experience of AWS/Azure/Google compute platforms.

• A good understanding of AWS services including ELB, EC2, S3.

• A good understanding of IAM/VPC and AWS security models.

• A good understanding of Proxy/Caching.

• A good understanding of network technologies, including switches, firewalls, routing, TCP/IP, subnets etc.

• A good understanding of DevOps technologies including an understanding of Docker/SaltStack/Terraform/Chef/Puppet.

• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IAC)

• The experience of developing scripts/codes for automation – ideally Bash, Powershell and Python/C++.

• Understanding testing processes and solutions and ideally automated testing platforms such as Selenium.
