Multi-skilled Precision Engineering Apprentice

The company

This is a precision engineering company provide a wide range of engineering, manufacturing and finishing services.They have CNC turning, CNC Milling, manual machines, 4 and 5-axis milling and 3D machines, a CMM Inspection Department and a colour coating section.They work with a number of high profile aerospace companies including Rolls Royce and Meggitt Aerospace.

What the company is looking for?

An Apprentice aged 16 - 18

A person who wants to learn all aspects of a precision engineering company.

-Someone who is reliable and has good time keeping.

-You will need to be practical and be hands-on.

-Someone who is driven and proactive.

-You will need to have good attention to detail and learn how to read technical diagrams and work on computer numerical machinery.

-As you will be working on a variety of machinery to become a multi-skilled precision engineer you will need to be a flexible individual who wants to learn.

-Someone who can work quickly and accurately.

-A person who wants a career and not just a job.

Your training

The training will take place at the LEMA academy in Birmingham and you will first spend 2 days per week gaining your Level 1 Certificate in Engineering Manufacture.On successful completion of this you will move onto your Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations and attend the academy one day a week for 23 to 26 weeks.After this the remaining 6 months will be assessed through on-site reviews and observations.If required you will complete your Functional Skills in Maths and English.

You will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade A to C including Maths and English or equivalent.

-Minimum apprenticeship salary rate to begin with rising to between £15,000 to £19,000 after qualification.An experienced person can expect to earn between £20,000 and £30,000 with prospects for management.
