Operational Risk Business Partner - Fire
Historic houses, gardens, coastline, woods, islands, pubs, even entire villages - we help everyone to enjoy an incredible variety of special places and spaces. And because we want them to be enjoyed for generations to come, we work incredibly hard to protect them from any risk, including the risk of fire.
What it's like to work here
This role will cover two regions, the Midlands and South West, therefore the location is flexible in that you'll be based from a regional hub nearest to your home.
What you'll be doing
An expert in fire safety, fire risk protection and fire risk assessment, you’ll work with a fantastically diverse range of places and spaces across the Midlands and South West both with their own needs and challenges. By offering them expert advice, by working closely with property colleagues, you’ll ensure that we continue to give visitors great experiences while protecting our places of beauty and historic interest for ever, for everyone. You’ll be quick to become a trusted adviser to both your property and Operational Risk Business Partner colleagues, providing them with pragmatic fire safety advice.
It’s important to say that yours is an advisory role. We want you to guide, not enforce. It’s about empowering property managers through expert guidance, not taking accountability for operational risk away from them. To make sure that properties are fulfilling their operational risk activities, you’ll carry out fire risk assessments and audits, when necessary. While the main focus of your role will be on fire safety and fire risk, you’ll also support and advise your own smaller portfolio of local properties on other areas of operational risk (Health and safety, Security, access and Environmental Compliance).
Who we're looking for
Firstly, we’d like you to have a relevant qualification in fire safety and fire risk assessment (for example, Fire Protection Association, NEBOSH, Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers). Practically speaking, you’ll be able to call on impressive experience of working in a fire compliance advisory role. And you’ll be used to scoping, completing and reporting on operational risk audits too.
We’d also like you to have a good awareness of the operational risks facing an organisation like the National Trust. Of course, it’s not just what you know, it’s how you share it. Practical and pragmatic, and a great relationship builder, you’ll have the confidence to steer, guide and coach managers.
It’s about more than just going the extra mile but really believing in it. Every day, everything that you do will help to inspire and enthuse your colleagues and create a truly unforgettable experience for our visitors.
