This is an exciting time to join the Ministry of Defence. The Defence Mental Health Social Work Service provides comprehensive, tri-service mental health social work interventions, therapy, support and advice for military mental health patients and eligible veterans who are referred via their local Departments of Community Mental Health (DCMH).

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced social work manager to join one of our DCMHs based at HMNB Clyde, Faslane.or Venning Barracks, Telford.

This role will offer an experienced, flexible, dynamic and creative social work manager the opportunity to be part of a changing and developing Defence Mental Health Social Work Service within the MoD which will see you at the heart of service development and at the forefront of the delivery of effective Mental Health Social Work within Defence Primary Healthcare.

You will play an important role in the social and psychological recovery of military mental health patients in order to return them to full operational fitness. A secondary aim is to assist personnel to transition into civilian life and support services following a medical discharge. Our Mental Health Social Work Area Managers have a critical role in the delivering of front line MHSW services for military personnel and eligible veterans within the Departments of Community Mental Health (DCMH), whilst having line management responsibilities for a number of Senior Social Workers within their area of responsibility.

You will be an experienced Mental Health Social Work manager, with a proven track record of managing staff in the LA/NHS environment who can balance a number of competing priorities whilst being assertive and robust in clinical skills and knowledge. This is an exciting role for a committed and enthusiastic Social Work manager who is looking for a new challenge in a unique setting.
