Product Design Manager - Packaging / Consumables

A Product Design Manager is needed to join one of Europe`s leading manufacturers and suppliers of packaging and consumable products. Working from their Head Office in Birmingham, the Product Design Manager can expect a rare opportunity to have a real impact in the direction of the business whilst being involved in cutting edge product design and innovation.

With an enviable client list that boasts Sainsbury's, Greggs, Marks & Spencer, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Starbucks (to name a few), this privately owned UK & Far East manufacturer has been leading the way in product design and innovation for over 20 years. Due to growth in new and existing markets, they are now seeking an enthusiastic Product Design Manager to take ownership of design projects whilst supporting the growth and development of the existing design team.

Working closely with the Product Development Director the Product Design Manager will oversee the complete design life cycle from brainstorming and concept development to product presentation (customer facing) and launch. Whether you are leading the design team in developing unique, state-of-the-art product solutions; initiating new product development strategies; driving product development (how the product works, how it interacts, what it`s made of) or inspiring the design team with your ideas, it will be your love of design that brings outstanding product ideas to fruition.

To qualify… You should be a Product Design Manager / Senior Packaging Designer / Product Designer / Design Manager / 3D Package Designer / Industrial Designer / Creative Product Designer or similar with a CV and portfolio that demonstrates:

  • Experience in a similar product design role (packaging experience would be advantageous);
  • Experience managing a design team;
  • Excellent innovation and problem solving skills;
  • Experience of managing projects from client briefs to product launch;
  • The ability to create new ideas both independently and within a team;
  • The ability to clearly communicate your thinking visually and verbally;
  • A working knowledge of manufacturing, materials, processes and mechanical principles.
