Our client is a leading provider of Information Management Services and Solutions which maximise the utility of data and provide decision making insight across enterprise, asset and service lifecycles predominantly within the Defence, Energy and Utility industry sectors.

The Test Analyst will be responsible for manual functional testing and some automated testing, including planning, designing, specifying, executing and reporting testing.

The successful candidate should be confident in providing manual testing solutions to delivery teams, issuing advice and guidance on testing best practice whilst enabling and ensuring products, solutions and services meet specified requirements and are fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively within the teams to plan all testing activities as required.
  • Produce test estimates and provide testing solutions which help overcome and take into account delivery constraints.
  • Planning, specifying, designing and executing manual functional and non-functional testing required to demonstrate that a correct level of quality has been achieved.
  • Work with the customer, the business and delivery teams to identify and create test data in advance of commencing test cycles.
  • Assist in building environments as required facilitating the technical testing of software components.
  • Work with delivery teams to identify and maintain for regression suites for execution to ensure current functionality is not adversely affected by new changes.
  • Perform impact assessment on proposed changes to ensure that all dependencies, issues and risk have been correctly identified and are proactively monitored and managed.
  • Ensure the testing principles and processes are consistently followed.
  • Participate in analysis and design work product reviews to gather relevant information for test design purposes.
  • Report and present findings and /or recommendations following conducting any research or investigation into continual improvements to our practices.
  • Collate and collect metrics data as required.
  • Provide test results and status updates including weekly and quarterly performance reports with supporting data to facilitate decision making.
  • Work in a manner conducive to building positive and constructive relationships with all colleagues in particular those working in development and service delivery teams and key business stakeholders
  • Actively promote testing activities across the teams and relevant business functions
  • Collaborate and contribute to the authoring of unit tests and Development roadmap
  • Attend and engage with the monthly meetings in order to share knowledge, contribute to the continual progression of testing with the business.
Skills and Experience Required:

  • ISEB / ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing
  • Strong experience of Test Tools
  • Ability to support the production of test artefacts including test strategies, test plans, test cases, test exit reports, project exit reports and lessons learned
  • Testing – Security, assurance of software solutions
  • Experience writing SQL queries for testing
  • Understanding of software delivery approaches and frameworks (Agile, SOA, test-driven development)
  • Defect management, analysing and prioritising the defects
  • Understanding and awareness of the software development lifecycle
  • Understanding of different test methods and levels
Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of assuring the quality of a variety of products and system integration solutions and Web Services (SOAP and REST), XML
  • Service Orientated Architecture
  • Internet Technology and tools
  • Databases (Oracle, Mongo or MS SQL Server)
  • Operating Systems ( Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server, VMware)
  • Experience testing RESTful Wen APIs manually
  • BDD experience using Specflow, proficient in Gerkin and MS Test
  • Performance Test Tools
  • Automated Testing
