Job Description - General Manager


Job Title: General Manager
Department: Production / Operations
Reports To: Managing Director and Finance Director (Executive Leadership Team)
Commitment: Full Time Role

The General Manager is a key member of the Production and Operations team at W Corbett & Co (Galvanizing) Ltd ("Corbetts" or the "Company"). The General Manager is responsible for providing oversight and direction in the production facility, managing day-to-day customer interactions and providing support to the Accounting and Finance and Sales teams as well as other departments within the Company as needed. This role is focused on driving performance of the business through the optimization of key performance metrics such as tonnage and throughput among others developed by the Executive Leadership Team.


Responsibilities:


Production / Works (50% of time):


Setting direction on daily, weekly and monthly production
Collecting, measuring and optimizing key performance metrics in the production facility
Developing targets for the production facility in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team
Continually looking to optimize the lay-out and throughput of the production facility in order to improve performance
Providing oversight and guidance for the works manager and logistics manager
Ensuring on-time customer delivery
Ability to step-in and augment production when needed


Customer (25% of time):


Coordinating with customers on pick-up, deliveries and production scheduling
Ensuring that Corbetts is delivering excellent customer service and customer experience
Identifying and uncovering opportunities for Corbetts to expand its customer relationships
Capturing and sharing customer data across the organization
Partnering with the Executive Leadership Team and Sales on customer visit and reviews as required


Support (15% of time):


Collaborating with the Sales department on new business opportunities
Coordinating with the Accounting and Finance department on key figures and key performance metrics
Taking an active role in cross-functional teams to deliver management information and insights to enhance future performance


Growth / Special Projects (10% of time):


Assisting in the analysis, due diligence and review of new locations, acquisitions or changes to the production model for the business as directed by the Executive Leadership Team

Will be required to perform other duties as assigned not otherwise captured in this position description


Key Criteria / Requirements

Experiences:
3-5+ years of production or operations management experience in a continually progressing role
Experience within a busy galvanizing facility or within the galvanizing industry preferred
Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software considered an asset
Knowledge of logistics considered an asset
