Senior Support Engineer IT
Staffordshire and Shropshire Health Informatics Service (S&SHIS) is a shared service hosted by South Staffordshire & Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We provide a portfolio of IT services to NHS organisations across the Staffordshire and Shropshire health economy.
We work in teams and in a recent staff survey the top three words to describe our service are: friendly, supportive and hard-working. We have specifically developed our staff structure to provide both excellent service to support clinical services as well as offering a clear career path for those who want a career in NHS IT.
We are looking to recruit to our Operational Development team, an enthusiastic individual with experience working within a busy desktop IT support role. This new team of Senior Engineers will be responsible for the design, testing and deployment of new systems, technologies & solutions, alongside the day to day business operations including Problem, Change and Release Management.
Interaction with our other support teams is vital, to quickly identify common faults, provide workarounds and develop resolutions where required. This role therefore requires technical ability, a positive can-do attitude, and a good eye for problem solving due to the variety and complexity of daily tasks.
This is a new role created to provide better services to the NHS. It will suit IT Support professionals who would like to expand on their already proven desktop support skills. Our service is highly professional and we are proud to have achieved ISO 27001 accreditation which we aim to extend and increase. We are committed to maintaining a high standard of service and back this up with training ( e.g. ITIL, Microsoft, Cisco, SCCM) and support (e.g. personal development plans, talent management). The experiences gained though this role will provide excellent opportunities for further career progression into technical, project and supervisory management roles.
The role will be primarily based at Trentham, in North Staffordshire, however there will be requirements to complete onsite working from any of our customer locations, sometimes using your own vehicle as transport. Corporate vehicles are also used within this post and therefore a full UK Category B driving license is required.
The post falls within the NHS AFC pay structure, with a starting salary of £22,128, and annual increments up to £28,746. Annual leave starts at 27 days (excluding bank holidays), increasing to 33 after 10 years continuous service.
The closing date for applications is Friday August 11th and shortlisting will commence after August 14th 2017
Interviews will take place on Thursday August 24th and Friday August 25th 2017
