I am now recruiting for the position of General Manager to join a leading specialist distributor based in the West Midlands. The primary purpose of the General Manager is to provide operational and strategic support to ensure optimum functionality of the business across all operational sites in the UK.
As the successful General Manager you will have full P&L responsibility and deliver leadership and management of staff across all UK depots. This position has a strong focus on business development and customer satisfaction and requires strong commercial and financial understanding to improve service level delivery and overall growth of the business.
This position works in conjunction with the Managing Director but will require the capacity to work autonomously with view to delivering sales growth, customer satisfaction, new service offerings and operational efficiency. This will be reflected in the delivery of accurate & detailed statistics with internal and external stake holders at all levels.
The successful General Manager will have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience in the provision of third party logistics services within a fast-paced and dynamic customer industry;
- Track record delivering growth by exceeding customer expectations and developing new, innovative service offerings;
- Seeks and executes operational improvements by leading a culture of continuous improvement;
- Leads from the shop floor, developing close working relationships at all levels of the organisation in order to generate commitment to the development of the organisation.
Given the nature of the organisation, the role will need to be approached with a certain level of entrepreneurialism; ideal applicants will have an innovative approach to their work and demonstrate previous experience of increasing customer satisfaction by driving commercial and operational performance. In reward for your commitment and delivery, the opportunity will be available to progress to UK Managing Director within a couple of years of appointment, as part of wider planned succession planning.
The successful General Manager will receive a basic salary of approximately £65,000 to £75,000 dependent on experience, plus a company car allowance, bonus, pension, private health care and 25 days holiday plus 8 days statutory leave.
