As Head Chef you will be accountable for all areas of the kitchen. You’ll be creative and passionate about food and relish the opportunity to work with great seasonal produce and highest quality ingredients. As a natural leader you’ll inspire and manage the more junior members of the team and will be organised in your approach to their development. Helping to build the business with exciting menus. Deliver great food in our cafe, conference & events at a highest standard.
We expect high standards in all our kitchen so you’ll be able to demonstrate full knowledge of a wide range of cooking methods as expected at this level and be confident creating premium dishes and executing daily specials.
Day to Day
Cooking in a busy kitchen as the head chef to create exciting dishes for our cafe.
Working closely with the team to complete orders within a set time.
Making high quality hot and cold buffets for our boardroom catering. Up to 250 guest per day.
Working as part of our events team to create unforgettable weddings. Up to 50 weddings per year.
Ensuring weekly targets are achieved.
Ensuring stock levels are right and stock rotation is achieved for no waste.
Liaising with suppliers. Ensuring cost of stock are at good GP levels and are delivering best quality stock.
Placing orders with suppliers as well as the taking and signing of deliveries. Putting all stock away safely in the correct location.
Placing all food orders to the right level with a completed order form.
Targets must be achieved.
Morning & evening briefing with all staff. All staff should know what is happening today and what is on the menu, special offers…
Kitchen staff rotas with costing and forecast for each week. Rotas are complete no less than three weeks before the week start.
Staff Training. Ensuring that we get the best out of the team.
All check list a complete. Cleaning Check List, Set Up Check List, Fridge Temp Check List, Delivery Check List, Waste Sheet….
Ensuring all kitchen staff are taking the correct break times.
Liaising with customers, ensuring that all guest are happy and going that extra mile to fix any problems that may arise.
Talking to the Event Coordinator regarding the event timings and expectations.
Building new menus to a high standard.
Weekly meeting with your general manager.
Working closely with the team.
Preparing social media adverts for our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Health & Safety
Minimum 2 years previous experience in a similar role
