The A&H Development Underwriter will implement the defined development strategy of profitable growth for Group PA &Travel business through CI. The ideal candidate for this role is someone with a bachelor’s degree and experience in the insurance industry.

This role can be based in Birmingham, Manchester or London

Main accountabilities:

To build Effective external relationships with brokers and customers to successfully prospect and win A&H accounts.

To build effective internal relationships with the Customer Management Group.

To successfully prospect existing CI customers, leveraging the existing relationship to grow this line of business.

Develop positive reciprocal relationships with counterparts on other lines of business.

Results focused, all underwriting decisions are based on a clear understanding of the overall financial objectives.

Ensure that new business acquisition is consistent with the underwriting strategy for profitable growth.

Create and implement specific broker development plans that are aligned to the wider CI strategy.

Actively contribute to shaping the business development plans and underwriting strategy by identifying opportunities for profitable growth.

Review risks of a complex nature and compile suitable terms.

Act as a referral point for A&H "champions" in the regional offices

Plan and conduct training for both Underwriters and the sales communities in the branches

Your skills and experience:

Typically Degree/ ACIII qualifications

Specific underwriting expertise for this line of business.

Proven development and relationship management skills

Proven Technical knowledge to an advanced level

Comprehensive understanding of Group PA & Travel cover with the ability to identify and address potential exposures.

Knowledge of Global programme design and procedures

Good knowledge of London Market environment, practices, procedures and emerging trends

Good knowledge of broker structures and placement strategies.
