Leading Chemical Manufacturer requires a Field Instrumentation Engineer to join the Electrical & Instrumentation Department. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled installation, maintenance and calibration team to ensure the reliable operation of plant assets in lower tier COMAH facility.

The position holder will be responsible for providing Instrumentation expertise on projects relating to installation and calibration as well as reactive, preventative and predictive maintenance, reporting to the E & I Manager.

The successful candidate will be an experienced qualified technician with trouble shooting and problem analysis skills. You will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a range of departments including production to ensure that daily goals are achieved.

The ideal candidate will have the experience listed below and must have the ability to perform with minimum supervision.

·Installation and maintenance of PLC, plant and pipeline instrumentation: including but not limited to pneumatic and electronic instrumentation and the software associated with each.

·Efficient in troubleshooting and calibration of instruments: Flow, Pressure, analytical & Temperature.

·Diagnose and correct problems associated with PLC's (Allen Bradley), ability to trouble shoot using ladder, or object based function block programming.

·Read and use drawings and schematics, including Electrical (schematic & single line diagrams), Instrumentation, loop & spec sheets, Pneumatic and P&ID’s.

·Maintain records on all items including repairs, specifications, one-line drawings, junction box drawings, loop sheets and P&IDs.

·Have experience working within chemical process or other regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, petro-chem, food, or oil & gas with a sound knowledge of H&S.

·Good understanding of control and safety systems and functional safety standards IEC61508, IEC 61511

·A good knowledge of Planned Preventive Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance and continuous improvement will be highly beneficial

·Experienced in working to ISO standards with a minimum of ISO 9001 being expected.

·Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

·Experience of and a good understanding of the E&I aspects of DSEAR compliance.



·Recognised Instrument apprenticeship educated to C&G as a minimum

·COMPEX (Hazardous Areas) modules EX01 & 03 as a minimum


·ISSOW and TSBT01&02

Hours of work – Monday to Friday 08:45 to 16:30. 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. The salary for this position is circa £30K per annum
