Audit & Accounts Manager / General Practice Manager

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Top60 Accountancy Practice in the Midlands who are looking to strengthen their Audit & Accounts function and recruit an ACA/ACCA Qualified General Practice Manager for their growing team in Stoke-On-Trent. Reporting to one of the Directors, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing the Audit programme of major clients with appropriate consideration of audit risk issues and accounting technical matters.
  • Ensuring all Audit engagements are in compliance with auditing standards and internal procedures
  • Planning, execution and finalisation of all areas of the audit assignment for Director or Partner review
  • Reviewing statutory accounts including group structures and the associated Corporation Tax computations.
  • Working confidently at client premises on a variety of matters, and dealing with client requests relating to HMRC, PAYE and VAT matters
  • Providing appropriate training and supervision to trainees/technicians, and advising clients on basic accounting and tax matters.
  • Effectively reviewing sets of accounts (unincorporated or incorporated) prepared by staff of varying levels of ability, for signing off by the Partner.
  • Managing the administration of a portfolio of clients and overseeing the same for Supervisors assigned to the team.
  • Liaising with Senior Managers regarding staffing levels in the office for both Account & Audit assignments
  • Actively cross-selling, identifying and developing business development opportunities for the firm.
  • Attending prospective client meetings with Senior Managers/Partners and contributing accordingly.

To be considered for the role you should be a qualified ACA or ACCA Client/General Practice Manager with previous mixed Accounts & Audit experience, ideally of small and medium-sized corporate businesses from either a Top100 or a well-established regional Accountancy firm. You will have experience managing a junior team on multiple clients, building relationships with clients and internal management teams, and being able to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.

On offer is a salary to £45,000 depending on experience with benefits to include company pension, healthcare and 20 days holiday.
