Position Description:
The role of a Programme Cost Engineer will be provide support to the Vehicle Programme Team to enable delivery of the Piece Cost & VT cost targets, through - Analysis and comparison with other programmes, - Your extensive experience in overall cost drivers within Piece & VT costs. - Organizing and executing ""ground up"" & ""back to target"" cost workshops and supplier workshops. - Tapping into the experience within the Cost Engineering delivery team and securing support for programmes. - Providing clear direction between the Vehicle Programme Team and core Cost Engineering functions (and visversa) In addition to this, delivering effective reporting and presentations on Should Cost status and offering options to the teams on cost down opportunities.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
Project management
Analysis and comparison using Excel
Good business acumen and knowledge of finance analysis.

Experience Required:
Project management of teams in improving value and cost for a range of commodities.
Familiarity with change management and new product introduction processes.
Holding a high level of data analysis and interpretation.
Experience of cost reduction initiatives, tools and techniques.
A good general knowledge of vehicle / component design and / or manufacture.
Ideally educated to degree level (or equivalent experience).
Have a good technical awareness at both the production process and cost driver level.
Highly skilled communicator, with the ability to think on your feet and make strong and appropriate decisions

Experience Preferred:
Supporting and leading key cost related activities, including cost target setting, VAVE cost down workshops, benchmarking and supplier workshops throughout the Product Development cycle.
Liaising with Cost Engineering, Engineering and Purchasing (also known as the Matched Trio), bringing together their cross functional expertise to deliver best costs for the vehicle programme.
Tracking and reporting of Should Cost data to identify commercial and technical cost down opportunities.
Developing Best Practice solutions to cost management as part of the emerging JLR Cost Optimisation Process

Additional Information :
Location: Although primary location is Gaydon the role may require travel between all JLR sites (Whitley / Castle Bromwich / Solihull / Halewood)
