Position Description:
The Shifter Software Controls Team is responsible for the specification, validation & delivery of Shifter (GSM) software across multiple Vehicle applications. New programme requirements need to be evaluated and software delivery plans developed for each vehicle project in line with the JLR programme milestones and deliverables. Software testing must be planned and coordinated with the supplier and internal JLR test team (HIL & vehicle based) and issues evaluated and addressed within a quick timescale. All team members are expected to work within the team to develop and enhance the current software planning, sign-off and releasing processes in order to improve the efficiency of the team and to ensure no software or hardware failure modes are released into production and service.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
Good Electronics background with a proven record of on time project delivery of Electronic Control Units (in an Automotive or similar environment).
Wide experience & knowledge of diagnostic specifications, CAN & Flexray networks and car/software configuration.
Experience of leading meetings with the supplier & programme team to coordinate project delivery & the resolution of project & technical issues.

Experience Required:
Knowledge of Vehicle Architecture & system interfaces, Flexray, CAN & LIN communications.
Knowledge and experience of Powertrain or Electronic project delivery.
Ability to plan & manage the delivery of complex new Control unit programmes to vehicle programme milestones.
Good problem solving techniques and skills, including experience of fault finding/system de-bugging.
Good communication and presentation skills, good PC/IT skills, flexible, committed, self starter & a strong team worker.
Proven supplier management skills, capable of running supplier project & technical meetings & managing the resolution of issues with internal & external stakeholders.
Relevant qualifications in Automotive Engineering, Electronics, or Control Systems (Degree preferred).

Experience Preferred:
Knowledge of JLR / Ford project delivery processes would be a significant advantage.
Experience of CAN communication systems & analysis tools (e.g. CANalyser, INCA, Matlab, etc).
