Mechanical Engineer

Salary: £23,712 per Annum

Based in: West Bromwich

The Mechanical Fitters will carry out all types of mechanical fitting work, in compliance with

The main responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out mechanical fitting work and maintenance duties
  • Able to use drawings and manuals to install, overhaul and repair pumps, fans, mills, vessels, tanks and specialised process equipment
  • Carry out statutory regulations pressure testing and commissioning
  • Carry out all mechanical planned preventative maintenance procedures
  • Plant improvement initiatives
  • Examination of schedules and assisting in the development of new examination schemes
  • Work in accordance and comply to relevant Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and GMP procedures
  • Interpret drawings and technical manuals, or as directed by Engineering management
  • Record Engineering data and deviations accurately and legibly on engineering documentation
  • Carry out commissioning functions, when trained and authorised to do so
  • Handover plant and equipment to the user in accordance with company procedures and complete any required documentation as part of the handover process
  • Understanding of Process flow diagrams
  • Installation of Chemical processing equipment pumps, heat exchangers, motors etc
  • Pipework Installation/fabrication, hydraulic pulled sets and bends

Essential Requirements:

  • Completed a formal engineering apprenticeship and/or qualified to NVQ level 3 in mechanical &/or maintenance engineering with formal engineering qualifications (City & Guilds, BTEC for example)
  • Demonstrate an employment track record in mechanical fitting &/or maintenance engineering disciplines
  • 2 years’ experience post Apprenticeship in a mechanical fitting engineering discipline

Desirable Requirements:

  • Competency in working at height and in confined spaces
  • Working with and compliance to permit to work systems
  • IOSH Working Safely
  • BIT Training
  • Aerial Platform Certification (MEWPS)
  • NVQ Level 2 Welding
  • Lathe turning, and use of workshop equipment
  • Use of Abrasive Wheels.
