  • To ensure the company stock is reconciled regularly and accounted for correctly within JDEdwards. Stock includes vehicle, fuel and customer engineering stock.
  • To produce and analyse management information on stock
  • To identify and implement improvements to processes and controls within stock control throughout the business.

Assignment Requirements

  1. Responsible for all stock balance sheet accounts, ensuring they are reconciled regularly; variances are identified, investigated and resolved
  2. Completion of a full vehicle & fuel count and reconciliation quarterly
  3. Update stock control procedures, taking into account changes within the business
  4. Key contact for external auditors on Stock
  5. Calculate stock provisions, investigating anomalies and advising supporting departments of expected changes
  6. Communicate the results of stock counts, identifying the cause of significant gains and losses
  7. Responsible for the monthly terminal reconciliations and valuation of stock, ensuring correct prices are used to generate the cost of stock and therefore the transfer of costs across the business
  8. Ensure blanket purchase orders reflect the correct supplier prices
  9. Support the Customer Engineering team with their control of engineering stock by updating the ledger after stock takes and distributing monthly reports on variances of key items
  10. Monitor the receipting of fuel. Assist depot colleagues and ensure that fuel usage has been sufficiently accrued
  11. Reconcile 3rd party invoicing against stock movement
  12. Ad-hoc Financial Accounting duties and projects as required

Key skills & Knowledge required

  • Part qualified accountant
  • Good understanding of management accounting techniques, stock control procedures and reconciliations
  • Ability to work with computerised accounting systems and skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively with financial and non-financial managers
