Support Workers - Residential Children Home - Worcester

Dove Resourcing is currently working in partnership with a specialist care company with multiple sites specialising in the residential care of children and young people with Behavioural difficulties.

We are looking for committed and reliable support workers to join small occupancy children homes across Worcestershire. The sites are 3 / 4 beds and work with young people whom exhibit emotional and behavioural difficulties. These young people can present behaviours that are aggressive in nature or may have attachment issues so a resilience to this will be pivotal should you be successful in your application.

We are looking for applicants whom have direct care experience and can evidence working with children and young people in a similar setting in the past. Importantly you will be flexible with shift work on a rota basis - this will mean working full day shifts - 15 hrs per day and completing a sleep in at the end of the shift.

As a residential support worker you would be expected to;

  • Encourage independence and success on an educational level
  • Be a positive role model to children and young people
  • Ensure a caring environment is maintained
  • Have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness and homeliness are maintained.
  • Ability to work as a team and use your own initiative
  • Support and encourage young people’s independence by assisting with their independent living skills
  • Escort and supervise young people during social outings and trips from the placement
  • Offer support to other members of staff and lead shifts as and when required.
  • Keep updated daily records and ensure sound understanding of each individuals care plan.
  • Have an understanding of child development and the impact of abuse

We will consider applicants with any care experience that can evidence the right commitment and desire to work with vulnerable children and young people.

You must be a car driver with access to your own vehicle, be fully flexible on working shifts and completing sleep ins on a rota basis, and you must be willing to partake in training in line with Ofsted requirements for working in residential childcare.

Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications, if you have prior direct residential childcare experience with the level 3 residential childcare diploma you can expect a salary of circa £20k inclusive of sleep ins. For those new to the sector the salary will be circa £18-19k inclusive of sleeps.

You can expect on average to complete 8-10 sleep ins per month. Overtime will be available should you wish to boost your income.

The scope for progression is great with this organisation, they will significantly invest in staff training and have a number of services across the region for you to progress within.
