The Carillion Advice Services Insurance Team is responsible for handling all matters relating to insurance claims on behalf of Carillion plc and its subsidiaries.
Carillion’s Canadian business has grown significantly over the last two years. Historically, claims involving the Canadian business were primarily handled in Canada, but following a recent review, it has been decided that the CAS claims team will take over responsibility for the Canadian claims so we a looking for a Claims Handler to join our CAS Team based in Telford.
As Claims Handler you will have the following responsibilities:
Obtaining a detailed working knowledge of the Canadian insurance market from a claims perspective
Gaining an understanding of contract conditions, with particular reference to the insurance and indemnity clauses
- Gaining an understanding of policy wordings in connection with:
Motor vehicle liability in the various provinces in which Carillion operates
General (Public) liability
First Party property insurance
Professional Negligence (Professional Indemnity)
Builders Risk (Contractors All Risks)
Various other types of policy covers
Receiving first notification of losses from the business
Identifying the policy(ies) under which notified losses should be reported and informing the relevant insurer(s)
Recording details of all claims onto the CAS claims management IT system
Acting and the focal point for liaison between the insurers and the business
Obtaining additional information from the business, where required, in order to facilitate settlement of the claim
Assisting the business where required in securing its full and proper entitlement under its insurance programme
Progress chasing insurers to progress claims to settlement
Updating information such as reserves and payments on the CAS claims management IT system
Producing management information in a format and at intervals to be agreed with the business.
Other duties as required from time to time in order to carry out the role
The successful individual will be required to work in an in-house insurance claims handling environment and must have the following credentials:
• Legal degree and/or insurance-related claims handling experience
• Strong team working skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Has a flexible approach to working hours and has the ability to work offsite where required
• Excellent attention to detail
• Has a 'can-do’ attitude
• Proficient with Microsoft office
• Has a proactive attitude and good organisational skills
• Proficient in following rules and procedures
This role will require flexibility to work evenings.
This a fixed term contract for 12 months.
