We currently have an exciting opportunity within our HSSE function for a ESSAI HSSE Manager to support the Global HSSE Leader and play an instrumental part in delivering an advanced safety culture across the ESSAI region.

As well as the need to ensure the successful development and implementation of the HSSE management system, you will also be involved in the implementation ofbehavioral based safety methodology and the delivery of the ESSAI HSSE plans.

As a HSSE Manager, your main responsibilities will include the following:

  • To be the appointed "management representative" for external certification purposes.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of customer/project HSSE plans.

  • Facilitate communication and consultation through facility level HSSE (Q) forums/meetings.

  • Reviewing Contractor HSSE Plans, Interface Documents, Operations Plans and Emergency Response Plans.

  • Undertake facility security assessments as required.

  • Ensure all activity is suitably risk assessed and hazards identified mitigated to ALARP.

  • Maintains and develops the legal and other requirements and impacts and aspects registers.

  • Undertakes safety and environmental audits, inspections and impact assessments as required.

  • Conducts investigations of safety and environmental incidents with line management, ensures suitable and sufficient root because analysis is undertaken and preventative solutions implemented.

  • To assist in the ongoing development and maintenance of the organizations safety management and document control software (OSHENS).

  • Contribute to in-house training, development and competency assessments of company personnel & new starters in environmental and health & safety management systems.

  • Pro-actively seeking to avoid problems by promoting and increasing safety and environmental awareness within the business.

  • Use the VOC to develop mutually beneficial relationships with key customers and ensure customer expectations are met at every opportunity.

To be successful in this role, you must have the following:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken

  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision

  • Competence in the preparation of technical documentation to a high standard

  • Experience and knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 Management Systems

  • Experience and knowledge of OHSAS 18001: 2007 Management Systems

  • Recognized diploma level safety or environmental qualification

    • Membership of recognized professional body (CMIOSH / IEMA / MIIRSM or working towards)

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • IRCA registered Auditor/Lead Auditor desirable.

  • Proven track record of safety improvement across a multi-site business

  • Flexibility to travel (up to 40% of the role)
